Spadex Undocking Successful : Indian Space Research Organization has once again done wonders in the world of space. ISRO has successfully carried out the undocking of Space Docking Experiment ( Spadex ). With this, ISRO and India have shown their strength in the world of space. ISRO successfully completed the docking of satellites under Spadex in January 2025. ISRO called it a historic moment.
What is this mission?
Let us tell you that in January 2025, the PSLV C60 rocket carrying two small satellites, SDX01 (chaser) and SDX02 (target) with 24 payloads, took off from the first 'launchpad' of Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota and about 15 minutes after take-off, two small spacecraft weighing about 220 kg were launched into a circular orbit of 475 km in a targeted manner.
According to ISRO, the SpadeX mission is a cost-effective technology mission for docking in space using two small spacecraft which were launched via PSLV. Docking technology in space is necessary when multiple rocket launches are required to achieve common mission objectives.
India became the fourth country to do so
This technology is essential for India's space ambitions such as Indian mission to the Moon, bringing back samples from the Moon, building and operating an Indian space station, etc.
